Current Lines of Research

Regeneration, succession, restoration and management of secondary tropical forests at two levels of biological organization:

• Community: patterns, factors and processes driving forest succession and woody plant species regeneration; implications and applications to conservation, restoration and management
• Landscape: patterns, factors and processes driving forest spatial configuration and successional dynamics along gradients of fragmentation and human impact; implications and applications to conservation, restoration, management and land-use planning

Current Research Projects

• Patterns and processes of tropical forest distribution, structure and dynamics in SW Yucatan
• Sustainable planning of land use to maximize productive activities and conserve the diversity of plants, birds and insects in a tropical subdeciduous forest. Mixed Fund CONACYT-State of Yucatan Government (108863)
